BankWork$ opens the door to lasting careers in the financial services industry.

BankWork$ is an industry-supported training program that prepares participants for careers in financial services.

It provides:

  • Eight weeks of intensive training for positions as bank tellers, customer service representatives, and personal bankers.
  • Job interview practice
  • Resume writing
  • Job placement assistance
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring for career advancement.
Started in 2006 by The Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation, the Bankwork$ program has since expanded across the U.S. To learn more about the national program click here.

Bankwork$ is a fast-moving, hands-on curriculum taught by an experienced banking professional. It includes guest visits by local bankers and gives students a real world look at a career in banking.

Sponsored by local banks and credit unions, BankWork$ is free to eligible participants.

Training covers:

  • Workplace professionalism
  • Financial Service fundamentals
  • Beyond service: deepening the customer relationship
  • Preparing for employment

Each training is followed by a job fair where graduates interview for positions with the program's partner banks.

If you like working with people, you may like the customer service aspects of banking. Learn more by attending a BankWork$TM Info Session at a WorkSource Portland Metro Center.

WorkSource customers can sign up for BankWork$TM Info Sessions through MyWorkSource, by contacting their nearest WorkSource Portland Metro Center, or by emailing sdavis@seworks.org.

Participants in Bankwork$ training must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English (Bilingual fluency is a plus)
  • Have basic computer skills.
  • Be bondable
  • Be a registered WorkSource Portland Metro customer. If you are not registered, you can start the process online today at www.WorkSourcePortlandMetro.org, or by visiting your nearest WorkSource Portland Metro Center.
