BankWork$™ is an industry-supported training program that prepares participants for a career in the financial services industry.

The Portland BankWork$™ training program benefits from the support of Dress for Success and Best Foot Forward who help our graduates look their professional best for their interview and at the start of their careers.
Bankwork$™ is a fast-moving, hands-on curriculum taught by an experienced banking professional. It includes guest visits by local bankers and gives students a real world look of what a career in banking means. It covers:
- The ABC’s of the corporate workplace
- Customer service/sales
- Comprehensive bank products & services
- Job search preparation including: resume creation, submitting applications and interview practice
- Workplace expectations

Are you Eligible?
If you like working with people, you may like the customer service aspects of banking.
To participate in Bankwork$™ you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be fluent in written and spoken English (Bilingual fluency is a plus)
- Have basic computer skills.
- Be bondable
- Be a registered WorkSource Portland Metro customer.

BankWork$™ Trainer & Career Navigator
Orin Schmitt began his banking career at Far West Federal in 1989. Starting as a part-time teller, he quickly moved into a Senior Financial Service Representative position. He continued to build his career at U.S. Bank where he was promoted to positions ranging from Personal Banking Officer, Legal Processor, Events Coordinator and Business Banker. After U.S. Bank, he continued developing skills as a Claim Analyst, Call Center Supervisor, Learning & Development Specialist, and Technical Trainer and HR Lead eventually becoming an Instructional Designer at Moda Health. His passion for training and helping others led him to WorkSource Portland Metro SE as an Employment Training Specialist, and now to his role as BankWork$™ Instructor.

Sue Davis worked as a corporate recruiter for major insurance firms and banks for more than 10 years. She has been a key employee at SE Works, Inc. since 2011, most recently as an Employment Specialist/Account Representative for a unique job placement program.
